Eddy Kenzo warns against scrapping his tattoos when dead

Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo says his tattoos should not be scrapped off his body when he dies.

Even though tattoos are prohibited in Islam, Kenzo says it doesn't affect his relationship with God.

The 'Sitya Loss' hitmaker said this in an interview with Mbu blog.

“I love God. I appreciate and respect Islam so much because it’s the religion I’ve grown up knowing. But I do not base my life entirely on religion because I do not understand religion more than I understand God,” he said.

Adding “Whoever is bothered by that and whoever was offended by my statements, you may forgive me. Sometimes we speak out of ignorance but that is what I want as a person." He concluded.

According to the religious perceptive website "The majority of Sunni Muslims believe tattooing is a sin because it involves changing the natural creation of God, inflicting unnecessary pain in the process. Tattoos are classified as dirty things, which is prohibited in Islam." Quotes the blog

According to a 2018 article by Learn Religion, tattoos are considered haram (forbidden), based on the hadith (oral traditions) of the prophet Muhammad.

Kenzo came into the limelight after his 2014 hit song 'Sitya Loss', in which he featured Uganda's Ghetto Kids. The song has since garnered over 44 million views on YouTube.

In 2015, he made history as the first Ugandan to win a BET award. He has won other awards, including a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award, and multiple Afrimas.
